Ibi is located in the Spanish region of Alicante on the Costa Blanca. Beautiful sandy beaches, Europe's biggest salt flats bursting with bird life, historic sites and a huge variety of Spanish and international restaurants…just a very few of the reasons to book a holiday here.

Ibi Places of Interest

The oldtown district that is in the proximities of the church, is known as "the Costeretas", and is a series of narrow streets raised in the slope of the hill of Santa Lucia. The Hermitage of Santa Lucia can be reached from different points of the village and is one of the most emblematic images of Ibi. According to the tradition, the hermitage was constructed on the ruins of an Arab castle.

A place to visit are the XVI century frescoes, wich represent the coronation of Mary, and also a wooden engraved panel, all exposed at the San Vicente Ermit, wich has been recently restored.


Ibi Fiestas


CARNESTOLTES

In the last few years thiese fiestas are celebrated Saturday before Wednesday of ash. Use of disguises and popular verbena in the Seat La Palla.


FESTA DELS GELADORS
This celebration was recovered in 1989. It is celebrated in February with infantile games and ice cream distribution in the square of the same name.

ROMERÍA A SAN PASCUAL
According to account the tradition to devotion of S. Pascual began in 1661 when a farmer of Ibi, after a persistent drought, implored to the saint at the same time that he sank his farm pole and a water source arose.
In commemoration of this event a small hermitage was built and in this place the 17 of May began the custom to attend a mass followed of a open air breakfast and until lunch time races are celebrated, popular pastimes and dances with the sounds of the charanga, a local instrument.


NITS DE BALL
During the months of summer (June, July and August) at Tuesdays and Thursday at night , in the Plaça the Palla the dances of folclore ibense are danced.


CELEBRATIONS OF MOORS AND CHRISTIANS
The first Wednesday of September begins the novena in honor to the Mare de Déu dels Desamparats. The last day of the novena the celebrations with the "Nit of the Olleta" begin, a parade on the centric streets of the locality. At the first holiday the Entrance is celebrated, divided in two parts: in the morning the Christian Side marches past and the evening brings with it the Moor side. The entrance constitutes of a festive spectacle of great colorfulness with imaginative boatos de capitanes captains and abanderadas. During three days from Friday to Sunday Embassies, firings, Offerings, Execution of the Treasonous Moor, Contraband, Procesión follow one another... the festive families floods the villa with color, music and fireworks.
